First of all I would like to say it is an honor to be able to represent head coach Nick Saban and the LSU football staff in American Football Monthly. As coaches we know the game is always changing, but some things never change. You must know fundamentals, you must be able to block and tackle. There are many ways to skin a cat but these are some of the basic fundamentals that we “hang our hat” on here at LSU. Some guys like to scream and holler about “block that guy” or just focus on assignments. I am a firm believer that a player must be fundamentally sound and understand the progression of “blocking that guy.” The following is a list of fundamentals that we do as often as possible.
