Over the last two seasons the Capital University football program has taken a step towards the upper echelon of Division III football. Competing in the always-tough Ohio Athletic Conference against traditional powers Mt. Union, Baldwin Wallace, John Carroll and Ohio Northern is quite a challenge. Now people are including Capital when they talk about the top teams in the OAC. One of the reasons for our success is that we have a philosophy of football that is based on team play. We place a great emphasis on the turnover ratio, field position through special teams and the ability to make big plays. We also developed a system of defense, offense and special teams built on continuity. Our players know what is expected of them on a yearly basis because it doesn’t change, it just gets refined.
